Comrade Nwabukwu Ubaka AZANI is a native of Owerre Olubor in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State. He attended Ika Grammar School, Owa in Delta State for his secondary education between 1986 and 1992 and passed out in flying colours. He was a member of Mariere House. Comrade Nwabukwu Ubaka AZANI studied Geography and Regional Planning at the Delta State University, Abraka and did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Programme in the Town and Regional Planning department of Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State. Between the year 2000 and 2002, he was at the Centre for Urban and Regional Planning (now Department of Urban and Regional Planning) University of Ibadan and was awarded a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning in 2004.
He also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) with distinction from the Delta State University, Abraka in 2011. Comrade Nwabukwu Azani joined the services of College of Education, Agbor (now University of Delta) in Delta State in September 2005 as a Lecturer III and rose through the ranks to the position of Principal Lecturer in January 2018.
He served as Coordinator of the Weekend Programme of the defunct College between 2010 and 2014. He also served as the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of the
College between 2016 and 2020. He was the last Head of Department of Geography in the defunct College and the pioneer the Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Delta, Agbor where he is presently a Lecturer I. Comrade Azani has co-authored two books and published articles in both local and international journals and presented papers at both academic and professional conferences. He was certified to practice as a Town Planner by the Town Planners Registration Council (TOPREC)
Comrade Azani served as Chairman of NITP, Delta State Chapter between 2016 and 2018. He also served as Chairman, Publications Committee of the NITP between November 2018 and October 2020. He served as the pioneer Chairman of Ika Grammar School Class of ’92 Old Boys Association between December 2016 and January 2019. He is presently the Chairman Board of Trustees of Ika Grammar School Class of ’92. He has been an active player in the education sector since the year 2000 when he served in the Polytechnic as a Lecturer. He has been a mentor to so many students ás he is actively involved in the business of moulding the minds of young adults.
Comrade Nwabukwu Azani is married to Mrs Anthonia Azani (Née Ugbejie) and the marriage is blessed with 3 children.
